After you’ve looked at the picture, I don’t want this post to be seen as anti-animal. I have a cat currently and eventually I will have a dog once I have a piece of property. I love animals and think that they are a great addition to any family.
BUT… pet owners must think ahead when they want to get ANY animal (including a turtle!). It’s extremely important for people to understand that animals such as cats and dogs are likely to live for 10+ years. Are you prepared for that? Can you afford the costs? I’ve sat down with clients in the past that spend well over $200 per month on their dogs, primarily in food!
These numbers are not necessarily exact but they should give you an idea of how much a pet would cost you over their lifetime. It should also be an eye opener for how much of your disposable income they’ll ‘eat up’ (no pun intended).
