Stop the Phantom Load

Part 4 of an 8 part series on little things we can do to make a difference.

I thought it would be a good idea to go through some of the common mistakes people tend to make in their daily lives when it comes to being eco-friendly. For each of the next 4 editions I’ll give you a simple change that you can make to allow you to take some small steps to making a bigger difference!

This week we are looking at phantom load. Some of you may have heard about this before, but just in case we’ll go over it again.

Did you know that even if you leave your electronics plugged in when they are off, sleeping or in power saver mode, they are still drawing power? This applies to computers, cell phone cables, TV’s, stereo’s and basically anything else that is pluggd in. This is causing a drain on your wallet and the environment.

How to we solve this one?

Unplug your devices once they are charged

Plug your major devices into a power bar and turn off the power bar when you aren’t using the devices.
