When speaking with clients I get the question a lot about how I work with clients and what a difference it makes. Lots of people have heard by plea in making sure that no matter who they choose to help with their finances, please make sure it’s with a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
The Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) just recently did a bunch of studies to find out how financial planners helped and published the results here (Click here to see the whole article).
A few important tidbits are below:
- “Canadians who work with a CFP professional are more likely to report their financial affairs are on track than those dealing with non-certified planners (78% vs 54%).
- More Canadians who are using a CFP professional believe that financial planing has helped them have greater peace of mind than those working with a non-certified planner (73% vs 63%).
- More Canadians who engage a CFP professional believe they are closer to achieving some of their life goals as a result of planning that those working with a non-certified planners (70% vs. 61%).
- Canadians spend 36% more time with their CFP professional than those working with a non-certified professional/
- CFP professionals continue to have longer-term relationships with their clients (average 6.2 years) than non-certified professionals (average of 4.6 years).”
When looking at some of these highlights, are you and your friends and families being properly taken care of? If you know someone who is being “looked after” by a non-certified Financial Planner maybe it’s time they took the time to sit down with a CFP like myself. My door is always open so please give me a call at 604-308-6030 and we can sit down!
